I have always maintained that no nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take its women along with the men. No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men. There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two. There is a third power stronger than both, that of the women ~ M. A. Jinnah (speech at Islamia College for women March 25, 1940).
Assalam-o-alaikum Appna Alliance members. It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself to you all. My name is Fatima Elahi and this year I have the honor to serve as Appna Alliance President 2012. It’s going to be an exciting year! I have a wonderful team with which I am working with . I am indebted to my Executive Committee and many of the past presidents who have mentored me and supported me in this journey.
The above quote is one of my most favorite. It emcompasses the very essence of what Appna Alliance stands for. A partnership/alliance with our respective spouses in creating the perfect balance of harmony. Working side by side with our parent organization APPNA to cater to cultural and charitable humanitarian needs. This year we plan to continue in this tradition. I would urge each and every member of Alliance both at the local level and national level to participate actively with any ideas and suggestions so that we can collectively accomplish our goals for 2012. I thank each and everyone of you and especially the past Presidents for supporting and endorsing me always whilst entrusting me with this position. I hope to meet their expectations and plan to work to make Alliance a cohesive and ever vibrant organization.
